Is there an age requirement?
We recommend drivers be 12 or older. Our simulators are highly realistic — driving one takes the same focus, strength, and car control as a real racecar, and in our experience younger kids usually find that more frustrating than fun. We'd rather your driver's first laps be great ones. You know your young racer best, so if they meet the height requirement and live for this stuff, we'll see you on track.
Are there height requirements?
Drivers must be at least 54" (4'6") tall to drive the simulators — that one's firm. There's no maximum, though: we've fit drivers up to 7'0". If you're very tall, expect the cockpit to be snug rather than comfortable — but you'll likely fit and be able to drive.
Will I fit in the seat?
Every simulator is equipped with a Sparco EVO XL race seat, which is at the larger end of the spectrum for real race seats (and will fit most drivers well). Like any real race seat though, it's not "one size fits all." Hip and waist size are generally what matter the most for fit and comfort. A tall 250 lb driver will fit far better than a shorter driver at the same weight. Generally speaking though, past roughly 240–250 lbs, expect a tight squeeze.
For larger drivers, there's one other factor to consider. Our motion platforms have weight limits from the manufacturer. For drivers above about 250 lbs, we'll generally need to switch motion off.
Not sure about fit? Stop by and have a seat in one of our sims!
What about drivers with physical constraints, including balance issues?
Ease of getting into and out of our sims falls somewhere between a street car and a real race car. There's no roll cage to climb through like with a real race car, but you will need to climb a couple of steps, maneuver your legs around the steering wheel, and carefully drop yourself into the race seat (and you'll need to be able to do all of that in reverse to get back out). Our Marshalls are always happy to lend a hand or a steadying arm.
If you have mobility or balance challenges, please take an honest look at this step before you book, and definitely let our Marshalls know before you attempt to get in or out by yourself. Email us or stop by, and we'll help you figure out whether it'll work for you.
